Dr Matteo Altissimo graduated in Material’s Science a the University of Padua, and received his
PhD in 2006 at Politecnico di Milano studying diffractive optical elements for x-rays and neutron
applications, with a thesis developed at Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste. He moved to Australia in
2005, at first working for the Commonwealth Scientitic and Industrial Research Organisation,
and then for the Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication, which he contributed heavily to design,
build and operate.
In 2014 he returned to Elettra sincrotrone Trieste, where he is now working in the optics group,
following the optical design of the beamlines of Elettra 2.0, as well as the optical metrology
laboratory.
