After completing a MSc in Engineering Physics from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées of
Toulouse, France, Patrice Bras obtained his PhD from the Solid State Electronics division of Uppsala
University, Sweden in 2017. Through different research and development positions in the industry and the academic world, he has explored several fields of thin film research for application in optics, ranging from solar cells to chromogenics and more recently x-ray optics. Since 2024, he holds a permanent R&D engineer position in the X-ray Optics group of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), Grenoble, France.
